Every one loved this! I used a bottom round rump roast. I used Beef Consume instead of broth and Cream of Onion soup. Used one whole sliced onion on the bottom of the crockpot. I added Kitchen Boquet to darken the gravy. Thickened the gravy with 3T cornstarch and 1/3 C cold water. Served with mashed potatoes and green beans. Mouthwatering!

Very good! I had a half can of tomato sauce leftover, so I added it to the crockpot--basically for color and slight flavor (it's only 4 oz). I also added potatoes, onions and carrots to the cooker. I used the liquid leftover to make a gravy. EXCELLENT! I would try browning/carmelizing the roast prior to putting in crockpot next time. I think it adds more color and holds my juices.

I just got done eating this roast and it was delicious!!! It was oozing with flavor and so easy to make. I'm going to use the same recipe for pork tenderloin too. I did make one change and that was to add onion soup mix halfway through cooking. Yum!!!

We loved this! I didn't have 8 hours to let it cook, so I put it in an oven bag and cooked the roast, with potatoes, carrots & onions & sauce for 4 hrs on 325 degrees. I will make this again.

I followed the recipe exactly, and took the suggestion of another reviewer of adding McCormick's Montreal Steak Spice to the roast...it turned out perfect! This is by far the best slow cooker roast I have ever made. It literally only took 5 mins to put together and there were no leftovers :) Thanks again for a fantastic recipe.

'Awesome' is right! I seasoned my roast with garlic salt, onion powder, and pepper as well as tenderizing it with mustard and vinegar (does not leave any taste), then cooked following all directions, adding half a can of water. Very tender! And the best gravy ever! Must serve with mashed potatoes! This is going to be a new staple in my home. Ladies, make this for your boyfriend and he will propose!

Great easy recipe! I added the onion soup mix and used cream of mushroom with roasted garlic instead of just cream of mushroom and it was so tasty!

This recipe was ok. It wasn't anything special other than you can cook it in the crock pot and leave it for the day. My husband said my roast that I cook in the oven was better tasting than this one. Won't be making it again.

Quite possibly the best roast beef recipe ever. My family couldn't get enough. I followed the reviewer, TryItTonight's suggestions and was not disappointed. A keeper.

I made this for a special family get together and was so worried about the funny smell. Throughout the day I was opening the lid and taking a sniff. It is the worst smelling meal I`ve made out of my slow cooker. However it tastes sooooo goood. Everyone loved it and my Mothers Boyfriend who used to be a Chef asked to take some leftovers home for sandwiches the next day.

I was a little leery of this since I haven't had good luck with either roast recipes or slow cooker recipes, but I was pleasantly surprised. I used the "cream of mushroom with roasted garlic" and doubled the soup and broth portions for a 3 lb. roast. Following other suggestions I rubbed the roast with montreal steak seasoning. I wound up getting home late and it cooked for nearly 10 hours; turned out very tender and tasty. A solid and very easy main course for a busy day.

We tried this recipe once before and I found it a bit bland. Second time around I took some advice and dredged and seared the roast with flour, garlic salt, and fresh ground pepper. I also added a packet of dry onion soup mix, chopped carrots, and red potatoes. I didn't have beef broth, so I used chicken broth instead. IT WAS FANTASTIC! Both my kids and I had seconds.

Very yummy, and I love how easy it was. I did take someone else's ideas, and rubbed my roast with steak seasoning, which gives the gravy an even yummier flavor. I added baby carrots and sliced onions. Great!
