Peaches and Cream Pops

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
My niece loved these! I added blueberries I wanted to puree the blueberries into the pops but...... We put them into Icecube trays and they turned out perfectly although the peaches were a little tart we drizzled honey on them when we served them! YUM

Cut-Out Cookies in a Flower Pot

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
These are awesome and I'm not a big lover of butter/sugar cookies. It was my first time making cut-out cookies so if it's your first time make sure that you roll out your dough think enough otherwise the cookies will be so tough. I'd say go between a 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch. Make sure you don't overcook them. Bake them 10 minutes at most. They will not crumble even if they look a little light. These cookies stand up to the toughest little cook's hands and taste great with almond extract instead of butter extract. The recipe is a bit confusing as it calls for butter then talks about margarine. I used all butter and iced them with royal icing. These will definitely be my go to cut- out cookie.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2008
Wow, this is super good. I did follow the suggestion of one reviewer and made my taco seasoning, here is what I did. 1 tablespoon chili powder 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon onion powder 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano 1/2 teaspoon paprika 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin 1 teaspoon sea salt 1 teaspoon black pepper. I added cheese but did not do the tortilla chips, who needs to mess with perfection.

Best Tuna Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
TIP: Keep it all in one pot - saute the onion and celery in butter in a dutch oven on the stovetop, then stir in the frozen peas so they thaw, add the rest of the ingredients and put in the oven. For extra flavor saute some minced garlic and diced carrots with the onions and celery. Make it healthier by adding extra healthy ingredients (you can fit the volume if you're using the dutch oven rather than the 13x9 pan). I added 2 cups steamed broccoli, extra noodles, extra tuna and skim milk to make the whole mass of ingredients stirable.

Pumpkin-Apple Muffins with Streusel Topping

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
This is a great recipe, very tasty! I made a few changes to teh original recipe...I used 1/2 white flour and 1/2 whole wheat flour, 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar (I cut the sugar down to 1 1/2 cups)and finally 1/3 cup oil and 3/4 cup applesauce. We did not use the topping but added chocolate chips to some and walnuts to others! They were delicious!

Perogies

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2008
I'm only giving this 2 stars because even though I followed the dough recipe exactly, it was way too sticky to even handle, nevermind rolling out. I made my own filling, so I don't know how the filling in this recipe would have turned out.

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2008
Very good, I love any salad with nuts and fruit. I use blue cheese in place of the roquefort and also added almonds along with the pecans.

Shrimpcargot

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This was the best, delicious a new appetizer for my house. I sprinkled a little bread crumbs just underneath the cheese and added a little white wine in the bottom of the pan. Mixed mozzarella with a four cheese blend. Thanks for the great easy recipe.

Apple Goat Cheese Bruschetta

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
Outstanding, my BF ask how could someone rate this as not good tasting. Cheese and apples, how can you go wrong. The herbs just put it over the top. Thanks for a great recipe.

Orzo Shrimp Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This is our go-to dish for company. So easy and so flavorful!! The boyfriend told me he could eat it 4x/week. Modifications--I saute up some shallots and fresh garlic first, and we add organic fire-roasted tomatoes for extra flavor. The broccoli is the best part--soaks up all the flavor and 5 cups are definitely needed. Also, this dish inspired a girlfriend and I to dream of opening a restaurant called "Orzo Me." with all orzo recipes--until someone just opened a place a few months ago called "Orzo." Damn.

Microwave Lemon Curd

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
This was really good. Came out great, I used fresh squeezed lemons, next time I may do have lemons and half bottle lemon juice and I will leave out the lemon zest as I don't like them generally, but wanted to make the recipe according to the direction.
