Madison, Wisconsin

Though Madison is the political capital of Wisconsin, Madison is not only a city of politics it is also the city which represents our state to the nation as a truly wonderful melting pot of cultures. Wisconsin was founded by many Scandinavians, Germans and Irish. But times have changed and now Madison Wisconsin is a multi-cultural city not only in population but local cuisine as well. Madison prides itself on the things that have made Wisconsin famous worldwide -- cheese, beer and Bucky Badger brand snack foods -- but we also embrace a multitude of other cultures from Indian to Mexican, the Dane County Farmers Market to Brat Fest. We are a city that just loves our food, and we love it well.

About me:
I'm multi-ethnicity (Mexican,German,Polish, Russin, Jewish), which really informs my cooking style(s). I've been cooking forever! As a kid I was always bashing around the kitchen while the parents were cooking so they put me to work at a young age. Starting when we were young, my brother and I were responsible for preparing one of the family meals during the week--of course, we had help! It was a great way to become kitchen-literate early on! I am a partial vegetarian (i eat some meat fish but not very often) and have friends and family who are vegetarian so i'm always on the lookout for great, new vegetarian dishes!

Casa Dressing

I browned 1# burger and added the envelope of taco seasoning to it, let it cool. Chopped lettuce and tomatoes, onion and added some corn, then the seasoned burger and this dressing. Better than what is ordered at a restauraunt!

Honey Nut Granola

This is a very good recipe and very easy! I swaped sunflower seeds for dried cranberries otherwise followed to a T. Mine took almost 40 minutes to brown. I will be using this as my base recipe from now on. I love that there isn't any sugar or corn syrup!
