About me:
In my early 30s, married since 2003. We used to live in Orlando where we could enjoy Disney's parks and wonderful restaurants. We miss it so bad, we wish we could move back tomorrow ;-) I had to learn "american style" cooking after I met my husband, as the Quebec style was too different for him - I also found out it was real easy and he was happy with it. My challenge is now to get back to my roots with what's available in the south west. I also became an expert at quick salads since I got to feed a few reptiles every morning.

Best Ever Muffins

Reviewed on Sep. 15, 2008 by ekatiemo
These could have passed for cake and do not have the bread-like consistency of a muffin. The batter is too runny due to the amount of milk, and I suggest using at least one more egg. Although the amount of sugar is right, and the flavour is okay if I wanted to make cupcakes. I'd just add vanilla.

The Best Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed on Sep. 11, 2008 by ekatiemo
This is a good recipe, but very basic. I added 1/4 cup ketchup in the sauce but I still think it could use a kick from some herbs. Next time I might try it with a tsp of oregano. I baked them in the oven for 15 minutes first just to get them to set. These are really easy and quick to make.

English Royalty Chocolate Chip Scones

Reviewed on Jun. 12, 2008 by ekatiemo
Since Grandma Johnson's Scones contain both sour cream and butter and seem to be the best reviewed recipe for scones, I decided to add 4-5 tablespoons of sour cream to this recipe. The verdict: outstandingly chewy, moist but flaky scones! I think sour cream is the secret ingredient to getting that perfect scone texture. Because I hate a rock-hard dry scone. Another reason I wanted to use sour cream is because I had no orange juice on hand, so this allowed me to keep the tang that the OJ would have probably brought.
